Comfy Cozy Winter Wedding Inspiration

As I look outside at the wonderful snowy landscape before me, I just feel so comfortable and warm in my home.

I also start to think of lovely wintery things for weddings!

Over the past few months, despite my busyness, I was still able to collect a ton of winter inspiration, and I thought today would be a perfect time to share some tidbits with you!

I have always loved plaid...but I know I wouldn't like red in the color palette :P So I love this inspiration board (which also has a violin in it, score!) from The Finer Things. It has a tartan blue and green plaid theme, which is much more applicable to what I'm planning! And with the bf being proud of his Scottish heritage, I think he would love it! :)

For some reason I'm lusting after this pretty card box:

Silver swirl present wedding gift box.
It just looks so dainty and pretty! The winter version of a birdcage card box! However I refuse to pay $40 for it...however you do find it from time to time on the Weddingbee Classifieds for less.

Just look at these!

Hot chocolate pops.
Such a cute way to serve hot chocolate! You melt chocolate in ice cube trays and have it cool on sticks. (Full set of instructions are in Giver's Log, because if you don't temper your chocolate properly, they won't look as pretty!) Then you can dip your chocolate pops in candy melts chocolate and add on any embellishments, such as sprinkles, silver dragees, coconut, edible glitter, whatever! Serve your sticks proudly with glasses of hot milk or half and half! Mmmm...

I love the idea of including wood paper into the many paper elements of a wedding, however the wood paper does not come cheap! XP Despite this fact, I can't help but love the woodsy yet modern look of these escort cards from Martha Stewart Weddings.

I wonder if you could pull of printing a wood grain on satin-finished paper? Hmmm...something to try one of these days...

I think my friends would beg me not to put hundreds of little snowflakes on toothpicks...but wouldn't it be cute?! Maybe I could wrap the little container with an evergreen branch, so it looks like snow on a tree! :D Martha Stewart would be proud XD

o.0 On Project Wedding I found the most glamorous snow photographs I have ever seen:

So captivating.

You have no idea how badly I want photographs like that o.0

Well, I realized I have wayyy too much winter wedding inspiration for just one post to handle, so I'm going to space it out a bit. I think the wedding blogosphere needs more winter wedding posts anyways :)

So...What's On Your Board?

Since I went completely on the other side of the spectrum wedding theme-wise, I feel like explaining the elements in my newest inspiration board.

I'll let you in on the lovely details!

*This post is best enjoyed with a mug of warm hot chocolate* :)

The stunning white winter coat:

(from DressesTutor.com)

Elegant, classy and comfy...what more could you ask from a winter coat?!

The baby's breath wreath:

(from TheKnot.com)

Pretty and elegant, yet soft and cheap to make. Sounds good to me!

The hanging crystals and candles:

(from ??? I was kicking myself for not finding the reference to this pic! DX If anyone knows, I would love to know the site, but when you look at 30+ wedding sites, finding that one little pic is a bit difficult XP)

Because hanging candles would give such a soft glow to the room :)

The lavender snowflake candy:

(from Sweet Designs)

Fancy, purple winter candy = perfect!

The bride with the fuzzy blanket:

(from Kdog Photographers)

This just looked so cozy, it greatly expresses the feeling I want everyone to have!

The doily chandelier:

(from MarthaStewart.com)

This would be a great way to get a lot of white/snow/texture into the reception room! Since they are just made of paper doilies, a few of these could be constructed and hung from the high beams, drawing the eye up and creating a stunning display!

The gorgeous lily garland:

(from MarthaStewart.com)

Yes, this looks expensive to make but OMG doesn't it look great! <3 Yes, if I can get the lilies for a decent price I actually do want to make these...

The sugared fruit cake:

Simple but modern sugared fruit wedding cake.
(from Beaux Gateaux Cakes)

because I love sugared fruit!!! And this cake would not be that hard to recreate. White cake + sugared fruit = this cake! :D

The magical sleigh ride:

(from Ritzy Bee Blog)

Romantic and different = <3 Can I afford this? Probably not, but a girl can dream! Besides, how else can we leave if the roads are horribly snowy? XD

The snowy bouquet:

(from Snippet and Ink)

Again, elegance with snowy/cozy touches, so pretty! Although recreating something like this could be challenging...

The pretty, creamy cocktail:

(from Paper Olive the Blog)

Because you got to have a fantastic signature cocktail! And the lavender garnish is perfect!

The adorable snowflake marshmallows:

(from MarthaStewart.com)

Another great idea from Martha. As long as I can cut the marshmallow without it sticking to the cookie cutter, I'll be golden!

They're different, they're adorable, they're FANTASTIC! WANT! (DIY how-to post to come! :D)

Must. Have. Photos. Like. This.

And that my friends is a breakdown of many bits of loveliness I see in a potential cozy yet elegant winter wedding!

Another Shot At An Inspiration Board

This wedding stuff is clearly becoming an addiction for me.

Even though there are many, many other things I should be doing right now, I still find myself looking for wedding inspiration--this time for winter weddings, drooling over pictures, reading more blog posts, and making more inspiration boards.

XP

Well, at least you guys get something in the meantime, lol!

But first, an explanation of why the board doesn't completely match my last post:

At first I was thinking an icy, winter wonderland full of blues, silvers and crystal, but as I looked at my favorite unique venue I found it was calling for another kind of winter theme.

In the lodge-like ambiance I saw soft whites, the warm glow of candles, cozy textures and even, dare I say it, more of a rustic theme-- wood, berries, branches, pinecones and birds. I saw people warming themselves by the fire, being comforted by warm fuzzy blankets, drinking hot beverages and enjoying the welcoming atmosphere.

And I like all that, I really do.

But I just want it to look stunning and impressive, not just a cozy gathering. Why? Because I can! It's probably the first and only time I'll be able to make such an impression on my family and friends, and truly express a lot of my creativity that rarely gets tapped these days.

So I'm thinking to start with this warm, soft, and cozy base, and try to incorporate bits of glam and elegance without looking out of place...

...like silver snowflakes in the fluffy white chandeliers, soft ribbons around the glass candle votives, clear snowflakes and candles hanging from the beams, etc. Perhaps even a large block of ice holding cold drinks, but bordered with soft fluffy faux snow.

So I call this "Cozy Winter Elegance":

So yeah...very, very different XD

Inspiration Board Attempt #2

Remember the pretty inspiration board I just made a few days ago?

I was happy with it, but I wanted a little something more...something was missing...

That something being anything having to do with my wonderful bf. XP This was a bit too girly and bride-centered.

So I thought of my bf's likes and hobbies and tried to fit any of them into my "purple sophisticated romance".

My favorite two? His love of cooking and his love of Japan/Asian influence.

(Sorry for the big huge Asian label, I don't want to accidentally associate something Chinese with something Korean, or Japanese for Thai, etc. I'm just trying to cover all my bases XP)

Asian touches I always found to be modern, elegant, and different, which is exactly what I'm going for anyways.

This also means I can include something I kinda super-adore: parasols!!!

A fun bridal party photo with parasols.
A romantic silhouette wedding couple photograph behind a parasol.
And the cooking part? In my wedding research travels I kinda fell in love with herbs in floral bouquets and boutonnieres especially. I think it's just so wonderfully different, yet fitting! There is not a single dish my bf makes that doesn't have an herb from his mother's herb garden.

Unique and beautiful herb boutonnieres.
A lot of these herbs have a pale, blueish-green tint to them, so I thought I could put that cool color of green in little touches throughout the wedding decor!

However this gave even MORE work to do finding even more inspiration pics XP lol

But, I think it turned out well:

I'm just wondering if the "romance" part still exists in this board...
What do you think?

Inspiration Board Attempt #1

I thought for some fun I would try making my own inspiration board...

WOW. There are sooo many purple wedding photos! 8D Now I know why some bloggers call it "wedding porn," I couldn't stop looking at them!!!

"Just one more photo"
*click*
"Just one more photo"

(repeat :P)

So this kinda took me a while, considering I had over 50 picture favs to choose from! XD

So to whittle down the choices, I tried to sum up this explosion of purple everything...

I wanted to include the obvious charm of Boldt Castle, but I wanted modern touches as well, (nothing too overally frilly in other words,) so I came up with a lame, but acceptable "purple sophisticated romance".

My first purple wedding, Boldt Castle inspired, inspiration board.

Pretty, isn't it?! :D
