So, Whatever Happened To My Miss Boa?

Okay, so I dropped off the face of the earth for a number of reasons, perhaps leaving some of you wondering...what happened to Miss Boa?  Did everything turn out alright?  How was the wedding?!  What did her dress actually look like?!

Miss Boa's faux Weddingbee icon! (Copyright of Christos Georghiou, via purchased license) Well the Miss Boa series shall continue, with bits of posting here and there in between my own wedding planning posts! :D

(It feels so cool to talk about my actual, real-life wedding!!! *squee!*)

So...
Where did we leave off?

Oh yeah, she pretty much planned her entire wedding in two weeks time!  o.0

Miss Boa = planning wizard

Wedding Planning Wizard!

So what was next on her to-do list? --the bridesmaid dresses!

It all started out harmless enough, in order to find a dress we could wear later on, she asked her fellow 'maids what kind of dresses they like, told us what color she wanted, and to help with costs, we could pick dresses from department stores, given that the dress was in everyone's size :P

Well, this turned into a "EVERYONE WANTS TO BE INCLUDED!" message fest, and poor Miss Boa soon had posts pouring in on all sides, and the trouble was, everyone had their own style and ideas!

(Of course, my ideas where the best :D Just kidding!)

Not to mention that the wedding party had three...umm...height-challenged girls, (myself included XD) and two very tall women!  So body types were pretty much across the board here!

This went on for a few days until Miss Boa realized that she would just have to pick the damn dress herself!  Off to Victoria's Bridal Shoppe she went, (since a bridal shop can cater to all dress sizes,) found a lovely black and teal number, sent us a photo, and that was that!  The bridesmaids dress was chosen!

A sneak peak at my bridesmaid attire! :D

Now...I'm going to tell you something that I didn't even tell Miss Boa...

I got the dress a size smaller than I should have.

XP

I know!  This is such a bridesmaid no-no!  If you take anything from this post, remember this:

"DON'T get the bridesmaids dress a size smaller and say you'll lose the weight!"

Did I manage to lose the weight?
Well yes, obviously, or that thing would have never zipped up! XD
Was it a stressful time losing the weight?
        Yeah...it was...
Could this situation have cause a major problem for the wonderful Miss Boa?
        Absolutely.

Even though I knew I had the time to lose the weight, and it was a fairly reasonable amount to lose, nothing too drastic, there are just so many things that can go wrong that it's still a slippery slope to go down.

But let me tell you, nothing is more motivating than knowing that come hell or high water you're going to have to come to a wedding in that dress!

Trouble losing weight for a bridesmaids dress

Oh! Another thing to take with you:

"Think about the style of dress you are choosing, and if possible, try it on.  See for yourself how your bridesmaids will feel wearing the dress"

As much as I and the other bridesmaids love Miss Boa, this was a hard dress to wear!

As you can see it had an empire waist and a pencil skirt, and it was that combination that prevented us from sitting down properly!  At least we looked fabulous :D and we still were able to get through dinner! lol

The thing was no one realized this would be a problem until we were at the wedding, and it looks perfectly harmless in photos!

So take note brides-to-be!  And bring more comfort to bridesmaids everywhere!

How to Get A Phantom Wedding Like David Tutera's My Fair Wedding: Bridesmaid Dresses

Now that you have your cake set, you need to dress your lovely ladies for the occasion!

Step 7: Find bridesmaid dresses.

Sung Boutique did the bridesmaid dresses for the Phantom of the Opera wedding, and posted the exact styles they give the bride as choices in the show.

You can buy the exact styles, however each one will cost you at least $200 each... XP

So I'll list each dress with it's price and then list some more affordable alternatives I found.

Dress 1: Black Lace Prom Dress on sale for $192:

A stunning black lace prom dress used for some of the bridesmaids in David Tutera's My Fair Wedding Phantom of the Opera episode.Affordable alternatives:

-Roberta Jacquard Gown from the BonTon, $98:

An affordable formal black bridesmaids dress.Yes, it is not as fancy looking as the original, but it does have a bit more going for it than a regular, trumpet style bridesmaid dress. It has a pretty flower pattern, elegant style, and with the little bits of ruching on the top, it should look decent on all your bridesmaids.

-Black Evening Gown from Formal Gallery, found by Sears, $149:

An affordable dramatic black bridesmaid dress. Now while it's only $43 less than the original, this has the same sort of dramatic playfulness and texture the Sung dress has! I kinda love this dress, very elegant and romantic and just plain gorgeous!

Dress 2: Black Gold Lace Sequin Evening Dress on sale for $248:

A dazzling black gold lace sequin evening dress used for some of the bridesmaids in David Tutera's My Fair Wedding Phantom of the Opera episode.Affordable alternative:

-Black Prom Evening Gown from Formal Gallery, found by Sears, $139:

An affordable dramatic black and gold bridesmaid dress.Being such a unique dress, I was so happy to find something quite similar to the original! Also being the most expensive of the three dresses, I was happy to find a dramatic yet romantic gown for over $100 less! Woot.

Dress 3: Wine Strapless Tafetta Evening Gown for $196:

<br />A dramatic wine strapless tafetta evening gown used for some of the bridesmaids in David Tutera's My Fair Wedding Phantom of the Opera episode.Affordable alternatives:

-Satin Bandage Gown with Crystal Pin from Amazon, $79.99:

An affordable elegant burgundy bridesmaids dress. This is very, very similar to the original, simple, elegant lines with a touch of bling. The only thing this dress is missing is the true trumpet silhouette, however with that gorgeous ruching I feel that will not be missed :)

-Strapless Ball Gown from Amazon, $93:

An affordable elegant red bridesmaids dress. This does not have the same bling as the original, however the silhouette of the dress is very similar. Very elegant, perhaps a bit too detailed, but for $93 each, this will make your maids' wallets much happier.

Once you ordered the dresses, accessorize your maids with pearl necklaces and earrings, and you're all set! Don't worry about getting real pearls, your maids *shouldn't* mind and it will help everyone save money!

Cost for bridesmaid dresses and accessories = varies

I put varies because the cost of bridesmaid attire for the bride will be a personal choice. You may pay for their dresses, or may chip in a set amount for each maid. You may give them their accessories as gifts, or just one special component. You may have other ideas for bridesmaid gifts. So this is really entirely up to you.

Now that your bridesmaids are all pretty, it's your turn! We go on to Step 8: The bride's dress!!!

The Artistic Beauty...Of A Shoe

Since I'm just starting out as a wedding blogger, and since I am not engaged as of yet, I have only begun browsing the dozens and dozens of wedding blogs out there.

But one featured such a cute idea (that I absolutely adore!) that I feel I must post it here!

CastleBride Couture - Colorful Shoes

A gorgeous photograph of a beautifully coordinated wedding party. Look at how the berries in the bouquets match the girls' shoes!
OMG.

I LOVE IT!!!

Is that not the cutest wedding party pic you have ever seen?
For me it is, lol.

I so want to do this, I just love how it looks!

The shoes match the ribbons on the bouquets, the shoes are ardorable, the ribbons fall loose at the top of the bouquets, the great pop of color, the beautiful contrast, even the size proportions of the bride and bridemaids bouquets are perfect!!!

Now the question is...
should the bridemaids' dresses or shoes be purple? lol

Oh How I Do Love Dresses...

So after all that budgeting, I'm looking at something I won't be buying-- bridesmaid dresses!

I want my lovely bridesmaids to look, well lovely, so I don't want some strange, freakish dress they are forced to buy and wear for the occasion.

They should be in some shade of purple, and I'm not sure whether to go knee-length or full-length...

Here are some that caught my eye:

(the first one comes in many colors)

A glamorous bridesmaid dress.
A flowy, Grecian bridesmaids dress.
Such a cute springtime bridesmaids dress.
A little causal, but still a cute and sweet bridesmaids dress.
Please ladies, leave this ugly bridesmaids dress online...

Just kidding about that last one XD
